Yes, that is the actual headline from the Halifax, Nova Scotia newspaper. Reports, photos and video are rolling in from today’s World Naked Bike Ride, a global protest against the wasteful consumption of oil, and in favor of people-power. (“Ending the indecent exposure to cars and pollution.”) Here’s a compilation of worldwide coverage of the various Naked Bike Rides.
I like how one of the themes in the local coverage is quotes about, “you’d only see something this crazy right here in our wacky city.” The video from Boulder below has an “only in Boulder!” soundbite, while the Toronto article has a quote from a tourist visiting from Louisiana, saying “I’ve never seen that and you wouldn’t back home.” Uh, actually, there was a great New Orleans ride!
- Portland, Oregon (Video here, naked riders at about 4:45)
- New York (“These guys are idiots – clowning around, holding up traffic.”)
- New York (“we know how testy the cops can be when you’re just trying to let your testes hang out”)
- New York Bike Blog NYC first person account
- Toronto and Toronto and Toronto (“Naked pedal tests meddle”)
- New Orleans and New Orleans and New Orleans
- Boulder
- Chicago Chicago video
- Halifax and Halifax (“Joan Curtis stopped to watch on her way to church.”)
- Alberta
- Washington DC (“Tour de France? More like Tour sans Pants”)
- Montpelier, VT
- Roanoake, VA (“Not so naked”)
- London (“Barefaced cheek!”) and more London (Video below)
- Cardiff (“Meanwhile, in Mid Wales, hundreds of people took part in the annual Man Versus Horse Race.”)
- Southampton
- and Southampton with video (“Two pennyfarthing cyclists led the crowd of cheeky bikers…”)
- Brighton and Brighton
- York (“Mrs Dustman cycled off in the altogether…)
- Sheffield (“The bare-faced cheek of it!”)
- Manchester

The Portland, Oregon ride was ~4,000 strong this year! It’s one of the only night-time world naked bike rides I’ve heard of, and includes a dance party before and after the ride.
I noticed that the video you posted for the Portland ride displayed our daytime WNBR in all its cheeky glory. The big ride, though, was at night.
