I love this story – 60 years of riding the same Raleigh to work!

Timeless-Raleigh

Over the decades, Mr Hook has depended on the cycle to reach his job as a commercial vehicle fitter, the school where he now works as a caretaker, and local shops in Haddenham, near Ely in Cambridgeshire.

It still has its original steel frame, wheels, seat, gears, brake cables and mud guards. It has only been resprayed once, in 1985, when it changed from green to red.

And I thought my ’72 Raleigh was old-school. Keep on keepin it classy, Mr. Hook. Kudos.

Love this photo and the original “R”, Restore. What if we all made and cared for items that could last this long? Maggie

Yeah Nick! I have a ’72-ish SuperCourse, which I love. My dad has the same bike which he bought new and has put about 50K on. It still rides like butter, he tears it down about twice a year and waxes the frame while he’s at it. He’ll catch and pass Mr Hook I’m certain.
